Find and edit your elements in seconds!
Cinapsis is a workflow plugin adding something like the Mac's "Spotlight" to Cinema 4D. Quickly find and edit any element (e.g. textures) of your scene and run commands or plugins dynamically on a specific set of items - all within an easy and light dialog.
A typical usage of Cinapsis feels like this: have a complex scene and you're looking for some texture or shader or object - hit Alt+f, enter the first 3 letters of the name and find a suggestion list of all the items including that in your scene. Strike <enter> and your texture, shader or object is selected in the OM / Attribute Manager.
What's new in version 1.1?
- Properties and parameters (descriptions) can be edited in place
- Sort weighting: the last selected item will be on top of the list when it's included in the next look-up
- Change all occurring file paths of one texture at once
- Replace a specific material on all objects it is assigned to
- Delete all texture tags that have no material assigned
- Search for items by a property AND a value
- Bugfix concerning the visual selector tag
- Lnk affects now also linked textures in materials
- Some other minor fixes and improvements
Basic features
The following parts of your scene can be optionally included in the look up:
- Objects (i.e. the names as well as ObjectTypes)
- Materials (name, type)
- Textures (paths, filenames, extensions...)
- Shaders
- Tags
- Commands (c4d commands, plugins)
- Links (references in in- or exclude lists, linked shaders, effects....)
- Video Post Effects
- Descriptions (description names, values)
It also looks up every opened document and tells you in which document the search result is being found (can be turned off i.e. restricted to the active document only in the options).
You can also do a search in un-opened documents: select some .c4d file or a whole directory (which means any c4d file in it and every subfolder) will be searched. That's pretty neat to quickly find things out like "which scenes are using my texture on c:temptextures...").
There's further the possibility to "overwrite" or in general define what Cinapsis should do when you press <enter> or double click on a selected search result. The intrinsic default action is <select> i.e. to select the whatever and show it's attributes (except for commands - it's the execution of them of course). For each search type you can select a COFFEE script when it's placed in the Cinapsis scripts folder. Thus you can easily search for items being of interest to be given as an argument to any custom script.
